The Positive Psychology E-Mail List
This website functions as a “home base” for the Positive Psychology E-Mail List.
I was inspired to start this list after reading Dr. Martin Seligman's book,
Authentic Happiness,
and after seeing him give a lecture at a local college. Positive psychology really struck a chord
with me, and I wanted to form an on-line community of people who are also interested in the
subject.
For now, the e-mail group is operated through Yahoo Groups (this may change
in the future). If you're interested in subscribing, please visit this page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/positivepsych/
The list is meant mainly for non-practitioners, though professionals are certainly not barred
from participating.
The main purpose of the list is to encourage discussion about practical, concrete ways to apply
the principles of positive psychology. Abstract, theoretical, or jargon-filled discussions
are discouraged and are better suited to the positive psychology
listserv.
Examples of on-topic subjects for the e-mail list:
- Testimonials: “How I learned to achieve flow on the job”
- Requests for advice: “If critical thinking is my main signature strength, what kind of
career would be especially suitable for me?”
- Sharing of articles from the popular press, or recommendations of books that are relevant
to positive psychology
Examples of off-topic subjects:
- Discussions of experimental methodologies
- Calls for conference papers
- Detailed critiques of articles published in academic journals
